Gruyere is nestled to the east of Coldstream in the picturesque Yarra Valley in the center of the Yarra Valley Vineyards. Gruyere District Cricket Club is a family orientated cricket club that has a successful sporting history in both Junior and Senior cricket.
The club won its first premiership 1938/39 after which it was abandoned due to WWII.
In season 1977/78, a group of cricketing enthusiasts revived the club and moved it to its current location.
GDCC competes with many other cricket clubs along the Warburton and Maroondah highways in addition to clubs situated in the mountains such as Kinglake and Marysville.
The GDCC ground is located far from these highways and distant to major shopping centers and only two people in Gruyere play for the club. Despite the small population and the isolation of the club to these facilities, the club continues to be successful due to the dedication and commitment of players, friends and families of the GDCC.
